Dear Homestead Parents and Community,
It has been nearly two years since Homestead Elementary lost two bright and beautiful young
boys, Morgan and Parker Reed, and their father, Wiley, in an unthinkable plane crash. To honor
their lives and carry on their memory, the boys mother, Denise Reed, has established a fund in
their names. This fund will provide assistance through the Waiting Child Program, a division
of Chinese Childrens Charities to help families adopt orphaned Chinese children who are often
overlooked because of minor handicaps. Grants given from the Wiley, Morgan, and Parker Fund
will help make dreams come true for families who want to adopt these children but are faced
with the high cost of adoption fees and medical expenses.
In order to honor the memory of the Reed Boys and support this wonderful fund, Homestead
Elementary has decided to rename its annual race the "Reed Run," and to establish The Wiley,
Morgan, and Parker Fund as the new beneficiary for this event. This years Reed Run will be
held in the Homestead Community on Sunday, May 15, 2005.
In past years, many local families and businesses have supported this event with sponsorship
donations. You have the opportunity to have your family or company name on the race t-shirt
for a $50 contribution. The t-shirts will have the 2005 Reed Run design on the front and the
sponsor names listed on the back. For a $250 donation your sponsorship will include: your
business logo or your family/kids name on the back of the t-shirts, a family entry in the race,
and 4 t-shirts. All sponsors will also be listed in the school newsletter. Your financial
support is tax deductible and will be used to keep registration fees low while still
contributing to the Wiley, Morgan, and Parker Fund. To learn more about the fund, please visit
the website at www.wileymorganparker.com. We would appreciate your commitment by FRIDAY, APRIL
15, 2005 in order to appear on the t-shirt.
Thank you for your generous support!
Sincerely,
2005 Reed Run Committee
